Library and School District Partner to bring students greater resources

Olympia School District has teamed up with the Timberland Regional Library (TRL) to provide every K-12 student with a wider range and depth of information via TRL’s vast electronic services collections beginning, Wednesday, September 21.

Working with the district, TRL created special accounts for all students, which allow them to login to TRL from school or home, on any computer or device. The special accounts allow students to use the library system's large and updated collection of research databases, eBooks, downloadable materials, homework help for kids and homework help for teens, all without needing a physical card.

The new e-library card, named MyTRL allows for students to view and checkout electronic library resources that are automatically returned, so no fines will incur. School librarians have been trained on accessing TRL’s services and how to help students access their new accounts.

Parents may choose to opt-out of the program for their student(s) via the district’s Skyward Family Access portal or at any school in the district.

Students may receive a regular library card with their parent’s permission and verification of address and contact information. If the student already has a regular library card, it will continue to be able to be used as before, and the MyTRL card will serve as the secondary library card with online-only privileges.
