Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is composed of volunteer community members appointed by County Commissioners from Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston counties. Each county has one regular Trustee. Two additional Trustees are appointed to fill at-large positions, one from Lewis County and one from Thurston County. Trustees serve terms of seven years, or shorter terms if the Trustee was appointed to fill a vacancy.

The role of the Board is to provide oversight and long-term guidance for the library district. Trustees set policies, approve budgets, oversee library finances and assets, hire and evaluate the library director, and make sure the library district is operating effectively and in the public’s best interest. Trustees also serve as advocates for the library, helping inform strategic planning and connecting community members with library services.
