FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 14, 2025
Randle, WA -The Timberland Regional Library (TRL) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Mountain View Timberland Library in Randle, Washington. The Grand Opening Event for the library took place this past weekend with well over 100 community members gathered to celebrate the unveiling of the new library.
Children and families were particularly delighted by the library's playful features, including the whimsical mushroom play structure in the children’s area. Young attendees eagerly explored the inviting space, checking out books, engaging with interactive elements, and discovering what their new library has to offer.
The 3,400-square-foot library, located on Highway 12 within walking distance to White Pass Elementary and Jr/Sr High Schools, was designed to be a modern, welcoming community hub. Key highlights of the facility include:
- Children’s and Teens’ Areas: Designed for exploration, creativity, and connection, the children’s area features ample room for family activities, while the teens’ area offers a separate space to hang out, study, or play games.
- Four-Season Meeting Room: This versatile space opens into the library, accommodating events, programs, and community gatherings.
- Drive-Thru Window: Convenient for patrons on the go, this feature allows for quick material pickups and returns.
- Expanded Access Hours (EAH): Self-service options extend access beyond regular hours, making the library available evenings and weekends.
Executive Director Cheryl Heywood shared her excitement stating that this is the "first new library in more than two decades" and Director of Operations, Brenda Lane, expressed her gratitude to the original owners of the property, Kathy Heimbigner and Jack Kerr stating, "It was Jack (Kerr) who said, 'I want to leave this legacy for my community.' It is because of the love for your community that this building came to be. You should be proud of what you have done. Because you have done this for us. You have made this happen."
Construction of the library broke ground on April 4, 2024, and the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget—a testament to the effective collaboration between TRL, Schweisow Construction, and Aetta Architects.
The Grand Opening event celebrated not only the opening of the beautiful facility but also the commitment of Timberland Regional Library to enhancing library services for all of the communities they serve. For those who couldn’t attend the grand opening, the library is now open and ready to serve the community. The new library is located at:
