Renovation Goals Summary: Youth & Teen Spaces
Downstairs Youth Space: (Birth-5th Grade)
- Overall theme is Storybook Forest/PNW aesthetic
- Creation of specific “tween” space for late elementary kids
- Spaces/activities/toys are focused on Imaginative Play, open “process” art, low/no tech priority. Kid art displays in multiple areas.
Upstairs Teen Space: (6th-12th)
- Music/art/gaming themed
- “Intentional” space that is adaptable to trends, features timeless teen-requested activities like crafting, gaming, art. Self-expression opportunities and “ownership” of the space.
Both Spaces:
- Overall increase in physical library collection
- Form AND function of spaces, furniture, etc...
- Ability to host larger programs within youth/teen areas which frees up meeting room space
- Cozy reading spaces and overall seating areas are accessible, cleanable, and moveable, when possible
- Possible “Sharing Our Story” mural or art piece. Where we came from, where we want to go.
