FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
South Bend, 6/3/2024 - The South Bend Timberland Library has taken swift action to ensure the safety of its collection and the continuity of its services following a fire that occurred in March. The fire, which started in a trailer parked near the library, caused several windows to shatter.
Library Manager, Tania Remmers, quickly relocated the materials near the damaged windows to protect them from potential water damage. These shelves will remain empty until the necessary repairs are completed.
The South Bend Library building is owned and maintained by the City of South Bend, which is currently working with their insurance company to replace the broken windows. Meanwhile, the library materials and staff are managed by Timberland Regional Library (TRL). Both TRL and the City collaborate to ensure continuous library services for the community.
Library card holders can request items from any of our 29 libraries for delivery to the South Bend Library or another TRL location of their choice. Additionally, TRL cards provide access to a vast collection of downloadable books, audiobooks, digital magazines, and more.
For further information about the library's collection or services, patrons can contact their local library or email asklib@trl.org. Questions regarding the South Bend library facility should be directed to the City of South Bend.
Timberland Regional Library remains dedicated to serving the community and ensuring access to vital resources and services.
