Timberland Regional Library (TRL) celebrated the grand reopening of the Ocean Park Timberland Library on January 10 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony welcoming the community back into the recently renovated space. Community members, library staff, and local partners gathered to celebrate the updates and the library’s continued role as a welcoming hub in Ocean Park.
The updates focus on creating a brighter, more functional space tailored to the needs of the Ocean Park community. Completed in about four months, the project was finished on time and under budget, with most of the work completed by TRL staff. Improvements include a more intuitive layout, new flooring and paint, refreshed furnishings, and thoughtfully designed areas that make it easier to browse, read, and gather - reflecting TRL’s ongoing commitment to maintaining library spaces that are comfortable, accessible, and responsive to community needs.
A special feature of the refreshed library is the reimagined children’s area, which invites young readers into an underwater-themed reading nook designed to feel like a hidden alcove beneath the waves - sparking imagination the moment they arrive.
Community members shared their excitement about the updated space and what it means for Ocean Park.
“I moved here in 2009, and I’ve been coming to this library ever since,” said Library patron Becky Winters. “From the light fixtures, the colors, the new flooring, the setup, the fireplace, the study rooms, the bathrooms - it's all beautiful. This is a big bonus for our community. You can tell by how many people showed up today. It's a heartbeat of the community."
Following the ribbon-cutting, attendees were invited to explore the updated space, reconnect with library staff, and learn more about services available at the Ocean Park Timberland Library while partaking in refreshments and family-friendly crafts.
“We are excited to welcome the community back into the Ocean Park Timberland Library,” said Pacific County Regional Manager Michelle Zilli. “This refreshed space allows us to better serve our patrons, continue our community partnerships, and offer free access to information, resources, programs and activities that our community has grown to appreciate and love!"
