Youth Connect Boxes

Promoting Literacy Everywhere: Our mission is connecting to our communities. We aim to inspire young minds and foster a lifelong love for books by placing our Youth Connect Boxes in various locations. Perfect for apartment complexes, health care agencies, community centers, and after-school programs.

Note: This program is paused until February 2024. Please do not submit requests at this time. Thank you for your patience.

  • Assortment of 55-70 books.
  • Check-out is for eight weeks.
  • Renewed twice for a total of 24 weeks.
  • No fines or fees.

    Pre-Readers  (Ages 0-6)
    Beginning Readers (Ages 6-8)
    Middle Readers (Ages 8-13)
    Teen Readers  (Ages 13-18)
    Bilingual Readers (English and Spanish, Ages 0-8)

Youth Connect Boxes FAQs

  • Youth Connect Box requests are filled by age range only and cannot guarantee specific subject or title requests. Please contact your local library if you want specific subjects or titles, or explore our Grab and Go and Personalized Picks options. 

  • Each box contains an assortment of between 55-70 children's stories and informational paperbacks chosen to appeal to children and teens. The program is designed to serve four age ranges and a multicultural population: 

    • Pre-Readers - Children from Birth through Kindergarten (Ages 0-6)
    • Beginning Readers – Children from Kindergarten through Grade 3 (Ages 6-8)
    • Middle Readers – Children from Grade 3 through Grade 6 (Ages 8-13)
    • Teen Readers –Teens from Grade 7 through High School (Ages 13-18)
    • Bilingual Pre-Readers/Beginning Readers - with books in English and Spanish

  • Timberland Regional Library wants to make it easy for you to share books with the youth your organization serves. TRL lends boxes of children or teen books to locations such as apartment complexes, health care agencies, community centers, and after-school programs. No fines. No fees. It's completely free.

    To request a Connect Box:

    1. Get a Library Card, opens a new window with TRL.
    2. Fill out the online request form, or call your local library to reserve a box.
    3. Get notified by phone or email when a Youth Connect Box is ready for pick-up. Boxes can be picked up and returned at any TRL location, including our kiosks.
    4. Ask library staff at the circulation desk for the Youth Connect Box and they will check it out to you.
    5. Check-out is for eight weeks and can be renewed twice for a total of 24 weeks.
    6. No fines. No fees. It's completely free.

  • Youth Connect Boxes are tubs filled with 55-70 books which are available for loan to community centers, health care agencies, before and after school programs, Head Start locations, preschools, daycare centers, day camps, and anyone who works directly with youth groups. No Fines. No Fees. It's completely free.

    Senior Connect Boxes are rolling carry-on suitcases with books in print, CD audiobooks, and DVD videos that let you offer your clients materials that stimulate their minds and memory through reading and provide for the sharing of stories and experiences.
