Programs and Events FAQs

  • General Questions

After a library staff person reaches out to you to book your program, a TRL Performer Contract will be sent to your email via DocuSign. Much like the Performer Application, the Performer Contract is valid for one calendar year. Each year, a new application and contract will need to be submitted. This is to make sure the information contained in these documents, such as your fee schedule, insurance and contact information is up to date and accurate.

Please note that submitting a performer application does not guarantee that you will receive program bookings at any of our libraries.

If library staff want to book your program, this is the process:

    1. Once your performer application is submitted, the Programs Coordinator will share it with library staff.
    2. Library staff will contact the performers they are interested in booking programs with via the contact information provided in the application.
    3. Library staff will tell the Program Coordinator they are arranging to book a program with you.
    4. The Program Coordinator will send a Performer Contract to your email via DocuSign to complete, including a W-9 form that TRL’s Finance Department requires to issue checks.
    5. You and library staff will finalize the date, time, and other details together.

If you have questions or want to check on the status of your application, you may contact ProgramCoordinator@trl.org

Once submitted, performer applications are valid for one full calendar year, during which time interested TRL library staff may reach out to book programs. Each year performers will need to submit a new application; this is to make sure all the information in each application stays up to date.

TRL prioritizes programs that align with our Strategic Direction, opens a new window and service priorities. This includes programs that...

    • Give children the opportunity to learn and play in fun, engaging, developmentally appropriate ways.
    • Give caregivers and families of children from ages birth to five years old a chance to connect with each other, learn new skills related to early childhood development, or connect with local community organizations that support caregivers and their children.
    • Reflect and celebrate the diversity of our communities and the wider world.
    • Are accessible and inclusive for all community members.
    • Facilitate the development of healthy interpersonal connections and relationships.
    • Promote the well-being of people in our communities.
    • Allow people to practice or learn new skills.
    • Help people with something they can’t do on their own.
    • Improve equity of access to fun, free recreational activities and performances for our communities.
    • Include participatory elements, such as hands-on activities or interactive elements whenever possible.

Planning for most library programs begins at your local branch. If you have a suggestion for a library program we encourage you to talk to library staff on your next visit. You can also call your local branch, opens a new window during regular open hours or email us at asklib@trl.org with your suggestion.

Yes! Visit our website and navigate to the events calendar. Select your "dates" 'Locations" and "categories" to personalize your search. Once you've made your selections click on the "Options" tab and select "Print".

  • Beanstack

Keep track of all the books you read. When you create a Beanstack account for yourself or your family, you're instantly connected to your local library's reading programs, so you'll get credit for every minute and every page. We'll keep all your stats for you, cheer you on while you work towards your program goals, and let you know when you've earned prizes. When your library's program ends, you keep your account, and your reading history-it's always free, and you can keep right on logging your leisure reading. When the next library program comes around, no need to re-register -- just click on it, and you're in.

*Also, Beanstack has an app! Download it for free on any of your digital devices and track while on the go!*

    Visit www.trl.beanstack.com

In one swipe! Flip your book over and use your phone to scan the book's barcode on the back (not the library barcode). Boom, you're done. Seriously, the Beanstack mobile app makes it that easy. If you want to get fancy, you can also enter the number of pages, minutes, or hours (nice work!) that you read. If your library uses Activities, they'll be there on your screen -- just click the ones you've done.

Of course. You can set up as many profiles as you like, for readers of any age. And if you're a parent who reads aloud to more than one kid at a time, you can credit that reading time to multiple children's accounts with a single click -- no need to log it in separately for each of your avid listeners.

Tap the little "gear" button in the top right and hit "Edit Account."

We encourage any age reader to write a review of favorite books they have read. Under "Add a Review" you or your child can add a review of a favorite book OR they can submit a picture of the book.

Once logged in, just click "Edit Reader" (it's right next to your name) and hit "No" under Email Notifications.
