Get Help Applying for the Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC)

Of all the seasons, tax season has to be one of the least likeable overall. In my opinion, it's right down there at the bottom of the ranking along with spider season and smoke season. And yet, like its much-loathed brethren it comes around every year just the same.

However, while we at the library are powerless to help you avoid the eight legged menace we are well-equipped to make tax season less painful. Tax forms and instructions booklets have already begun arriving at libraries around the district, and the AARP Tax Aide volunteers will begin providing in-person assistance at libraries beginning in February.

We are also happy to support our friends at Pacific County Immigrant Support (PCIS) get the word out about the Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC), a program designed to help low-to-moderate income households keep more of their hard-earned money. The total refund amount depends on your income and number of qualifying children and can be up to $1255. And you have up to three years to apply, so if you're eligible you can still get money back for both the 2022 and 2023 benefit years.

The application is pretty simple and can be completed online. Find out whether you are eligible and what you need to apply here:

Need some help? As with anything tax-related it can be nice to have someone assist with the process. PCIS will be providing clinics at Timberland libraries throughout February, and additional support is available throughout the library district from community organizations. Find out more below!
