To reset your PIN, please use the Forgot my PIN option on the My Account login page, opens a new window and a PIN reset link will be emailed to you at the email address associated with your account.

If you have never registered your account on our website the "Forgot my PIN" option will not work for you, even if we have an email address on file. If so, you can send an email to asklib@trl.org with at least two pieces of identifying information from the following list:

  • Birthdate
  • Phone
  • Address
  • Library Card Number

In your email, please choose a 4-digit number and staff will reset your PIN on your behalf.

You can find and borrow digital content directly from the catalog. Use the catalog search in the top-right of the page. eBooks and eAudiobooks will appear in your search results. You may choose to use the filters on the left side of the page to narrow your search to see only digital content. Check out the video below to see this process in action.

You can also visit our Overdrive collection site to browse and borrow downloadable ebooks, audiobooks and magazines.

On a mobile device download the Libby app to browse the library's catalog and borrow digital items.

To apply for a library card visit one of our branches to verify your identity and other information or apply online here. For minors, any accompanying adult acting in a caregiving capacity may verify ID and information.

The two most common card types are:

  • Basic Card:  Verifying your ID allows you to check out up to 10 items and place 10 items on hold. Basic cards may not check out Library of Things items.
  • Regular Card:  If your current address is on your ID, or you provide another form of address verification in addition to your ID, you can upgrade to a regular card.  This allows you to borrow up to 50 items and also place 50 items on hold.

Both card types provide full access to online resources, digital ebooks and audiobooks, computers and printing.

Timberland library cards are free to applicants of any age who meet any of the following criteria:
  • Anyone living or owning property in TRL's 5-county Service Area: Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston counties
    • Except residents of these cities: Mossyrock, Napavine, Ocean Shores, Pe Ell, and Vader. These locations have not contracted or annexed for library service. Residents may pay a non-resident fee for a regular card.
  • Non-resident individuals who work or attend school in the TRL Service Area.
  • Institutions, businesses, and qualifying homeschools in the TRL Service Area.
  • Residents of library districts that have reciprocal borrowing agreements with TRL.
  • Residents of other areas outside of the TRL Service area within Washington that have tax-supported public library service.

Students in grades K-12 may already have a MyTRL account that can be used to access online resources, ebooks and more. Learn about MyTRL accounts here.

Yes! Visit our Get a Library Card page for more information and the link to apply online.

Printable applications can be found at the links below. We can also send you a blank application via mail or email upon request.

Mail your completed application to the nearest branch for processing, or scan and email to asklib@trl.org. The applicant assumes all risk associated with the voluntary submission of personal information via email. Please do not send scanned images of your ID.

Still need an item? Renew online or in the mobile app, call our automated phone system, or visit your local library. Other than Lucky Day items or those with a wait list, most items allow two renewals. All items renew from the date the item is due. If an item has renewals remaining and there are no users waiting it will be automatically renewed before the due date.

Once you log in, you’ll see your dashboard. This is a summary of your account. Checked Out and On Hold items are visible in the top left under My Borrowing. Click each box to view more, renew items and manage borrowing.

Request an item that is not in our catalog through Suggest a Title. Due to the large volume of suggestions received, we are unable to purchase all requested materials.

If purchased, a hold for physical materials will be placed for the requester. We are unable to place holds on eBooks and eAudiobooks, so please check Overdrive for your suggested title. Digital material is ordered on or after the publication date.

Patrons are limited to 10 purchase suggestions per month.

Items that we will consider for purchase: Books, Music CDs, Audiobooks, DVDs/Blu-Rays, eBooks, eAudiobooks.

  • Items available for purchase now (we do not take pre-publication/release requests).
  • Items with broad interest for library users across the TRL district.
  • Items published/distributed within the last two years (unless they are a part of a series TRL has already started purchasing). Please use the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service, opens a new window for older material.

Yes! Library staff are happy to help you find your next read/watch/listen.

Users who want a quick grab bag assembled from items checked-in at their local branch should use the Grab & Go form.

You can start your catalog search right from the home page – just click on the search icon, and start typing your search. To access all your account functions, log in and click “My Library Dashboard” to display borrowing, account activity, recommendations!

When you log in to your account for the first time you will be prompted to register and choose a username. Registration allows you to take advantage of all of the features of the site, including the ability to manage your renewals and holds, contribute ratings and reviews, and follow others to see what they’re enjoying. Registration is a one-time process that allows you to create an easy-to-remember login name, or username, that you can use instead of your barcode to check your account.

Once you've chosen a username you can still log in using your barcode and PIN if you prefer.

Your username will show if you post content through the new site’s social features, so don’t use any personally identifiable information, including your barcode, in your username.

Library staff are prepared to help find the information and resources you need. Visit any of our 29 locations or call your local branch during open hours.

To contact us online, email any questions or issues to asklib@trl.org, or chat with us between 10 AM and 3 PM Monday-Saturday by clicking on "Ask Us - Chat" tab on the right side of the page.
